Government/Military
COMSAT: Providing trusted satellite communications solutions for over 50 years

To meet the growing demand of government and military customers for scalable and cost-effective bandwidth, COMSAT works with multiple Satellite Network Operators to offer a full range of commercial satellite capacity. We work with multiple satellite network operators including Eutelsat, Inmarsat, Intelsat, Iridium, SES, Telesat, Thuraya and others to offer a full range of commercial capacity. Our L, C, Ka, and Ku-band COMSATCOM solutions integrate our secure MAC1 teleports and mobile terminals for forward deployment with robust support for multiple applications.

Our protected MILSATCOM solutions currently include X-band, Ka-band and UHF capacity, ground-based satellite control and mission planning capabilities, secure MAC1 teleports, user terminals, interfaces to the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) Global Information Grid, security cleared personnel, premises and technology to ensure mission critical data is protected.

We enable government and enterprise users to transmit classified or business-sensitive information, using highly secure and reliable voice, fax, video, and data communications through our satellite communications networks. Our services offer a flexible range of secure communication speeds depending on the user’s equipment and transmission requirements.

Our History

COMSAT was originally created by the Communications Satellite Act of 1962 and incorporated as a publicly traded company in 1963. Its initial purpose was to serve as a public, federally funded corporation intended to develop a commercial and international satellite communications system press. With its rich heritage and as one of the pioneers in the satellite communications industry, COMSAT has been committed to the advancement of the industry since its creation in 1962. Our mission is to ensure the success of our customers’ missions by providing secure, world-class satellite communications services for aero, land and maritime users. For the past five decades, COMSAT has played an integral role in the growth and advancement of the industry, including being a founding member of Intelsat, operating the Marisat fleet network, and founding the initial operating system of Inmarsat from our two earth stations.
